2. Academic Supporting System Pangasinan State University, Laboratorium Integrated School Elementary has 7 class, 1 for grade 1, 1 for grade 2, 2 for grade 3, 1 for 4, 1 for grade 5 and 1 for grade 6. Threre is also Kindergarten school divided in 3 section. They have a library, Faculty room and Training Centre and there are various instructional media for helping teacher to give a good stimulation for student. 3. Teaching System A week of learning to be held for 5 days. Saturday and Sunday is a freeday. For each day the learning process will started on 07.30 o’clock until 4.30 o’clock, this applies to students from grade 1 to grade 6. This school using full day school system. One teacher teaching one subject a hour. There is 9 subject in one day. In this school, the core/major subjects that were introduced starting in Grade 1 include Mathematics, Filipino, and Araling Panlipunan (this subject is synonymous to Social Studies).English is only introduced after the second semester of Grade 1. Science is only introduced starting Grade 3. Other major subjects then include Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (abbreviated as MAPEH), TLE (Technology and Livelihood Education) for Grade 6, EPP (Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan) for Grades 4 and 5, Mother Tongue (Grades 1-3) and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (synonymous to Ethics, Values or Character Education).

4. Material and Other Learning Sources This school use the materials accordance with core curiculum of K 12. Every subject has two books. First book for teacher as teacher’s guide and second book for students. Sometimes teacher used pictures, manila papers, and create their own materials for teaching. The teacher in this school is very creative and tallented, they are usually made the material by themself and every learning, we should prepare the material. Actually it’s same with Indonesia, but sometimes in Indonesia, we use proyektor and made powerpoint for learning.

5. Measurement and Evaluation System The system of the evaluation in this school is every quarter year the teacher will report about the progress of the students and every end of the year, there is a appreciate moments for the best students every class. For one subject usually it was need just one day to teach and one day for do the evaluation.

6. Curriculum The curriculum that use by PSU LIS- Elementary is curriculum K-12. K-12 is a program that covers kindergarten and 12 years of basic education to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

7. Teaching Plan Actually it almost same with teaching plan from Indonesia. The differences is in description. In Indonesia we usually using the sentences like. “Teacher will ask students to read the setences”, but in Teaching plan in Filipino it feels like scenario. We were made question and predict what will students answer. The kind of way like this remind me by Discovery Learning method that give stimulus to the students and students will discover the answers by themself.

The teaching plan consists of

  • objective

  • Subject Matter

  • Topic, Material, References, key concept, skill, Values

  • Procedure

  • Preparatory Activities, motivation, presentation, lesson proper, wrap up, values formation

  • Evaluation

  • Assignment

PART 2 PEDAGOGICAL CONTENT

1. Teaching Methods The methods in primary school based on questions, the teachers always ask to pupils. The question is always connected with the environment theirs know. And teacher always repeat the question. It causes the students to understand quickly. Also the teacher always say “very good” to pupils if their correctly answer, and said a name of pupils. That’s can make good feels for pupils. From the questions, pupils can guess what of the topic in the lesson. As I said, the method is like inquiry learning or discovery learning. Actually, this method is method that i always use in Indonesia as well. So when the first time I observed the class, I felt the teaching method is really suit to me.

2. Learning Materials and Innovation The materials based on curriculum, book. Teacher can add other materials like pictures, chart, video, story telling, etc, its . For innovation, teacher using qeustions and cooperative or inquiry learning. Learning material is important because it will suport us to teach and make student easier to understand.

3. Sources Of Learning and Technology For sources of learning the teachers at PSU – LIS Elementary using from K-12 curriculum, and the others sources is from subjects book and the things that I like is they usually use environtment to learning. But about technology, i think they still rarely using technology such as video, education game on internet (like kahoot etc), or others. It makes me found difficult because i usualy using the computer to made the materials, but I’m glad because in here I learn a lot, I learn made the materials, i learn utilize the envirotnment and my hands is become more expert using scissors, glue, etc.

4. Authentic Assessment The foundation of authentic assessment revolves around evaluating a students’ ability to apply what they have learned in the lesson. Authentic assessment to measure students' understanding and to measure teacher learning success. Authentic assessment in the classroom based on my observation are performance assessment, questions-answers, self-assessment, worksheet, observing assesment, quiz in the class, or play educational games.

PART 3 LESSON PLAN

Emination of Scientific Disciplines Curriculum K-12 (Source: Wikipedia) 2. Lesson Plan I teach for 20 hours and in those 20 hours I made 8 lesson plans, where 4 lesson plans used the Indonesian format. But i’m sorry because i think wixsite can’t insert the table so i can’t attach the lesson plan in here, but you still can download it, here’s the link \^w^/

PART 4 OBSERVATION ON TEACHER(S)

1. Planning for Teaching Before we start teaching, all we have to do is make a lesson plan and prepare the instructional material that will help the student to understand what they learning. The observer is not only me, there’s many student teachers who observed the class. Actually i observed the student teacher teaching, and they’re so good in teaching. Same like me, first of all they were made Lesson Plan and ask for guidace to the teacher until the lesson plan is approve. They also asked me to made flow (activity’s step) in case I forgot what will I said in the middle of teaching. 2. Preparing Lesson and Materials This is very important step, so before teaching teacher must understand very well the lesson. As I saw, teachers always preparing lesson before their teaching like preparing lesson plan, preparing materials, making materials, so when teacher teaching step by step is complete. Teacher use media learning like chart, pictures, video and that’s all is helpfull in learning. Teaching in Class As I saw in preparation step, teacher will ask pupils to sing, give the drill or even give them motivation, and after that teacher will explain and discuss about the previous lesson. Ask students about previous lesson, to check student understanding. Quick recap of past topics before start main activities. In presentation step, teacher will give pupils pictures and ask to pupils. The questionsand the pictures will lead to the topic of learning. But in this step, teacher not telling the what the topic about. In development of the lesson teacher will give the others question and pictures again, and teacher will ask to pupils to make an example. Teacher will repeat the questions or ask to pupils to making an another example In generalization teacher will ask to pupils, “what is the topic about?” And the pupil can gues what the topic of lesson. And after that teacher will ask to pupils explain or what the meaning of the topic. The student will conclude the lesson of the answer he or she has answered. In application, sometimes the teacher use cooperative method or discovery method. Teacher will divided the students become a small group and working together in cooperative groups. Or teachers will provide interesting activities to find out how far students understand learning. And then, teacher will repeat again about the topic, teacher will ask again to pupils what the tpoic about. In evaluation step, teacher will give pupils worksheet or quiz for evaluation. 3. Measurement and Evaluation One topic is usually need two days for teach, which is one day for understand and learn the topic, dan another day for evaluation. Teacher will give pupils evaluation like worksheet, or activities in their book. Teacher seldom give a assignment to the students.

PART 5 TEACHING PRACTICE

1. Procedure of Teaching

  • Greet to the teacher and pray

  • Check attendant list

  • Teacher give motivation

  • Review previous lesson

  • Give the stimulus to start new subject

  • Asking or answer the question

  • Evaluation

  • Give the assignment

  • Closing

2. Time Management and Organizing Activities

  • Preparation Activities : 5 minute

  • Motivation : 5 minute

  • Core Activities : 50 minute

  • Wrap up : 5 minutes

  • Closing : 5 minutes

3. Problem Solving Elementary school in my country has not divided subjects, we use thematic learning which combines several subjects by one theme. So when I first taught, I really had a hard time with managing time. but by practicing continuously I’m happy I can adjust it. Classroom Management the seating arrangement is the same as on my campus, one student one seat and table. there are many windows so that the incoming light is sufficient. The chalkboard uses chalk. honestly I'm a little bit in trouble because in my country we use markers, not chalk, i’m not used to so my hands writting is really bad (sorry haha).

PART 6 SUMMARY AND SUGGESTION

1. Purposes of Praticum Purpose of this exchange programe practicum are:

  • To share the knowledge and culture of another country

  • To experience teaching in another country and study about the differences curicullum

  • To increase English skill

  • To be able teaching in English language

  • To makes a new friends

2. Procedure of Praticum In the first week, we were introduced to the people there, we visited campuses in Bayambang, San Carlos and Lingayen, went to the governor's building, and were introduced to people in the school like the principle and teachers, student teachers and students. We also got the schedule for teaching next week. In the second and third week, We started teaching, i taught from grade 3 until grade 6. In the forth week, we were just taught for one day only, and the other day we made our self-report and prepare for closing ceremony.

3. Outcomes of Praticum Now almost two months have passed. After I joined the SEA-Teacher program I felt I was more developed. I feel more confident about my job as a prospective teacher. I'm grateful for the increased my ability to speak English. Actually, two days after the program was finished I did not go home, the state called me to be one of the 2018 Asian Para Games volunteers. There are many friends from various parts of Asia. The fluent conversation with strangers is certainly the result of this program. I really feel very grateful.

4. The Challenges of Praticum the first challenge of this program is language. sometimes I find it difficult to speak in a foreign language especially if we are feeling tired. The second is a busy schedule. In one month because we have to pursue 20 hours of teaching, we make 3 lesson plans in one day (one lesson plan for two days) and do instructional material also prepare for learning and practice. Because of the tight schedule and we have to adjust to the weather there, so on the first day of the second week many of us are sick. Luckily we were able to adjust well afterwards.

5. Overall Impression By joining this program there are many things that I am grateful for. The first is that I am very grateful to be part of the 6th Batch SEA-Teacher. I'm grateful that I can improve my English speaking skills. I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to teach in another country. I'm grateful to have made many new friends. I'm grateful that everyone I know is very friendly. I am grateful for the teachers there, for the students there, and also for the memory we made together there. After returning home, I felt empty. I feel that all of laughing, getting lots of friends, crying, and teaching in there is just a dream. And that thought made me miss Bayambang even more. Because when it's time to go home, I know it will be difficult to meet them again, meet with friends, teachers and students there. Even though the technology can reach the distance, I still feel something is missing. And that also applies to fellow Sea-Teacher friends from Indonesia and Thailand. Even though we are in the same country, it will still be difficult to meet because we live in different cities or even islands. That's why I'm very grateful to SEAMEO for giving me the opportunity to develop and motivate me to become a better teacher. I also want to thank you because SEAMEO I got to know many good friends. We will never know each other if SEAMEO does not bring us all together at Pangasinan State University in Bayambang, Philippines. Once again, from my deepest heart, thank you SEAMEO

6. Suggestion for future improvement - For Student Teacher : Don't underestimate them because they are Elementary School students, they are very smart, active, and have good English skills. Fighting and keep learning!

- For SEAMEO: Thank you for holding this very useful program. I will always pray for good relations between countries forever. Hopefully SEAMEO expands its opportunities not only in three countries (Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia) but all countries in ASEAN. ssstt!! I really like ASEAN hymns. 'We dare to dream, we care to share, together with ASEAN' Note : You can read my daily activities or the docummentation under this post, But here's several photo of me. Thank You (:
